I Still Believe in Them...

Say it together QCI-ders... How 'bout them Kansas City Chiefs!!!! Holy smokes... man... this is a great week already... I mean... short week... loading up on some good food... a trip to God's Country... and to start the madness? A WIN for te Kansas City Chiefs.

Now... I've probably lost most of you already on this post... but I could care less... this is a big victory... "G$, you're crazy... its just the friggin Chiefs... laddie freaking dah..." Nah... this let's do our very own QCI Chiefs Wrap... Notes, news and a little whooping it up. Here we go...

- The Chiefs are now 2-0 since they released Larry Johnson. Hmmm... also, the Bengals are 0-1 since signing him...
- First OT win in six years
- Coach Haley keeping his promise that he COULD find 22 guys to line up and win more than 2 games in the NFL
- Andy friggin Studebaker
- Cassell is starting to look great... and Haley says he'd go to battle with him any day. Good confidence boost for him.
- The system is starting to happen... and the players are buying in
- Andy friggin Studebaker
- Succop is clutch... Don't ever call him "irrelevant" anymore
- Remember this win... this will be known as the game that started the push to greatness.
- Why you play the game... no one in the World gave these guys a shot...
- Andy friggin Studebaker
- Guts, guts and guts... these guys have a heart.
- The future is bright... are we headed to the playoffs this year? No way. But look out... a strong finish... a good off season... its gonna get better.
- Oh and... Andy friggin Studebaker

And finally... Chiefs fans can start to take the paper bags off of their heads. It's funny... made a grocery store run after the game... proudly wearing my Chiefs gear... and I'm not even joking... I had at least 10 people shout at me in the aisles... "Hey! How 'bout them Chiefs!" "These guys aren't so bad." "Chieeeefs!" It was awesome... and its gonna get more awesome... Chiefs fans can hold their heads up a little higher... The Chiefs Kingdom is rising... we're gonna start beating more teams we aren't supposed to... and yes... they will be contenders... Chieeeeeeeeeeeeefs!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you bleed red on Sundays, hum the tomahawk chop in your sleep and yes... you still believe in the magic of the loudest stadium in the NFL... crank this up! Hey look! It's Eddie Money! Chieeeeeeeefs!!!!!

Don't the door hit ya....

....Where the good Lord split ya.

Buh bye Larry Johnson. No all time Chiefs rushing record for you... oh basically... no career left for you.

With Johnson gone... the Kansas City Chiefs can officially call them selves cancer survivors.

Holy Crap! They Won!

We're doing a little happy dance over here in QCI HQ. The Chiefs... freaking won a game! Holy Smokes!

Ryan Succop is Mr. Irrelevant no more. Speaking of...

QCI CHIEFS QUICK FACT: Did you know Rookie Kicker Ryan Succop is from the same hometown as GOP Congressman (and QCI homeboy) Patrick McHenry? Yups Hickory, NC.

Alright back to the random. We posted some stuff this weekend... so lets hit it.

FRIDAY NIGHT VILSACK POST - Yeah... I guess we're crazy. Anyhoop... thanks to the TIR for linking our little scoop. Now, we're no balloon boy dads here (great band name BTW...). Is it a long shot? Hmmm... in the immortal words of Lee Corso, not so fast my friend! My sources wouldn't text me if there weren't movement on it... Think about it. You really think they're gonna run Roxanne Conlin in this cycle? The same time Branstad is running? Do we need to teach an Iowa Political history lesson on this? Come on now QCI-ders...

Plus... As aggressive as the folks over at 621 East 9th are... It would appear that the IDP, namely Kiernan and crew... are starting to look like there's a bit a of pressure over on Fleur Drive. Think a little bit more... Their standard bearer is tanking... and this budget news ain't the greatest timing for them... just wait until every small school starts their 10% cutting at the end of the school year... When the Superintendent at NEH says: "Some are necessary. You have to heat the buildings, you have to keep the lights on." Get ready for more rage. Just saying...

Anyway... Remember, you heard it here first.

KRUSTY GETTING HIS GROOVE BACK - C'mon son! Nice to see Hershel back to form... #goodjoboutofyou

HAWKS #6 IN BCS? Shut the front door! But I'm not gonna get too excited here... We'll have some cartoons for you soon from the QCI Art Department this week...

AND FINALLY... Get you're week started off good and loud!

9/21/09

Urgh... QCI Chiefs Recap....

OK... so this week really started like a big bag of shit burning on your front porvch. And yes, we even stomped on it.... because... why not... But have no fear my fine feathered friends... We're still beleives here at QCI HQ when it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Being a Chiefs fan right now... it's like we're all parents of of wierd ass teenagers... hopefully soon, they will grow out of it and move on to greatness. While patience can run thin at time... that's what we got on our side. Time. There's no use turning in to Jason Whitlock and go ape shit... well... he's just pissed about the new media stuff over at One Anrrowhead Drive... "Scott Ego-li?" For real... get bent.

Nah, we absolutely feel good about the future of the Chiefs. For real we do.... its just how yesterday's loss, well burns. The fucking Raiders? Seriously? (oh yeah... today's post isn't for the faint hearted language users... got it?) Yeah, the fucking Raiders have won now in arrowhead 3 years in a row. It. Just. Really. Stings.

Real Chiefs fans know how to deal with this... and real Chiefs fans actually do feel good about the future... well long term at least. We'll be good with the Chiefs totally shitting the bed once in a while, its rebuilding time. Just keep remembering that... oh and repeating that 5 times in the mirror in the morning helps too... "It's rebuilding time in KC... It's rebuilding time in KC..." Do it... you'll thank me later.

So yeah... we're glad to get this off our chest... so let's go through a few notes from Sudnay... shall we?

1. Arrowhead Stadium - The loudest stadium in the NFL. Period. Do't bring anything else our way. Seriously, when was the last time any NFL home crowd forced 3 false starts... IN A ROW. No place else but Arrowhead... sweet sweet holy Arrowhead.

2. Brandon Flowers - Love that he's back. He is the key to the future for the Chiefs defense. Need to pull some of them passes and and we're good to go. Stay health Brandon, dear God please stay healthy.

3. Matt Cassel - Yeah, I said it. I like his guts yesterday... but dude, you gotta learn to slide. They are paying you too much. OK? Glad we could have this talk.

4. NEW Cheerleader Unis - Buh. Dayam. Yes, I'm recapping the game and just made a comment about their unis. Humina humina humnia... and yes Amy, you should Brett Favre it. As an anwser to you Tweet.

5. The War Chant - 2 minutes to... and another shot to win... 70,000 plus of your closest friend doing the tomahawk chop. Some may think its over done... some may call it racist.. but I'll tell you that every single hair on the back of your neck will be standing... that. was. awesome.
6. There Is Room for Improvement - I mean it can't get any worse, right? We'll be back. In Pioli we trust.
7. Haley IS Making An Impact - You thinkit was dumb to put star players on the 3rd string to teach them a lesson? Who is making an impact? Hmmmm... looks like D. Johnson is back to being a beast. D. Bowe... he's our Larry Fitzgerald now... beast. LJ... you can tell he his attitude ahs changed... the jusry is still out if he still has diapers on... we will see. I personally like a coach who expects the best everytime. Haley does. And come time when this thing is put together... look out. The Country Club is closed.

G$ gets Geeked out...

OK QCI-ders... how about that Monday Night? Whoah... well how about the first week of the season. So... as some of you know, this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the American Football League.

So the NFL is going all out with the tributes... Did you see these throwbacks!?!? Uniwatch has go you covered.

Oh... and Patriots Cheerleaders? Digging the Song Girl look... BAM!

As a Chiefs fan and now really a student of the History of the AFL... I'm completely geeking out. I mean... dayum. And not to get totally cheesy on you... Lamar Hunt has to be smiling from ear to ear. If you are a fan of Pro Football... you need to thank Lamar Hunt. (here's everything you need to know about him in case you don't)

Basically... here's a few reasons you should know why Lamar is the reason why your Sundays in the Fall are awesome:

1. After being reject franchises by the NFL... he started his own. The AFL.
2. If you are a Chiefs, Raiders, Jets, Chargers, Broncos, Patriots, Bills, Dolphins, Bengals or Titans fan... you should thank Lamar. Oh... don't forget the Falcons and Saints too...
3. You like the Super Bowl? Oh yeah... he came up with the name.
4. You like modern day NFL... um, you can thank him for brokering the merger of the leagues.
5. You like players from small colleges going on to become Hall of Famers? He and other AFL teams began this practice.
6. You like seeing other teams play on Thanksgiving other than Dallas and Detroit? Thank Lamar he pushed for that for years... and was finally reward with a game in KC... even though he was in a Dallas hospital.

There are a ton more reasons... sorry... I'm completely geeking out... but after watching those 2 GREAT and EXCITING games last night... I just could help to think how much pride he and the entire Hunt family must be feeling this year... A maverick league and visionary that dared to change everything... pretty cool if you ask me.

Derrick's Big Day

Today is the day. #58 gets what is rightfully his. A place in Canton. Somewhere in Heaven, Lamar Hunt and other Chiefs greats are gathered with DT all giving him tons of #goodjoboutofyou's.
There was just something about him. As a Chiefs fan, you loved watching him putting just about every quarterback in league, on their asses. But he had the "watch factor." Meaning... even if you weren't a Chiefs fan... and just watching a game, you had to watch Derrick.... you couldn't turn the channel... because you might beat yourself up for missing an awesome play.
Today, he will be immortalized into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
We've always know you were the best there was, DT... Long time comming.

7/24/09

Bringing the sexy back with the Peach! So yo... the B-Dub has an awesome article on a certain former HyVee Employee turned Super Bowl MVP. Check it here.
But... the cool part, as a Chiefs fan... was to read the interview with Dick Vermeil. I mean... of all the coaches in the Chiefs organization... I gotta say... Vermeil was my favorite... (well, maybe a tie with Marty Schottenheimer... still loves me some Marty Ball...) But anyway... those two guys were my favorites, because of the raw emotion they would wear on their sleeves...
Nothing sends chills up this Chief's than watching those guys give speeches... Here's some stuff to get you all fired up for the weekend! CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now... having a hard time finding some old school Marty clips... but how about some DT clips? I mean, #58 was the key to Marty Ball... gotta find the clip from Marty to Derrick, "Derrick, you need to put that Quarterback on his ass, got it?" DT: "Yes sir."

Happy Father's Day Dad....

So wrapping up some good times in God's Country this weekend and hanging with Pops. So say the least... the new addition to garage is looking bad ass. (good job out of you Dad) Of course... with the new addtion... my Pops scored some new Chiefs stuff to decorate the new addition to Edwards Street Manor. Which of course got some discussion of heading to same games down at Arrowhead.

Can't wait to make a few trips down with the whole fam damily to one of the most holiest of places... well it least in our minds...

So Happy Father's Day Dad! You the man! Here's a little somethin' somethin' to rife you up for some trips down to KC this fall. It's kind of our favorite part of the game... you know... other than the Chiefs winning...

CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Peach: Todd Haley, 11th HCOTKCC

BREAKING NEWS....

Arizona Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley to become the 11th Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

This starts what will be known as the "Youth Movement" in Chiefs history from years to come.

This is huge! Now will Tony G and LJ shut the f*** up? Seriously. Let's get rid of them.

More later...

I know... I know... we're on it.

Big Peach: IT'S ABOUT F'ING TIME - Derrick Thomas in the HOF!

QCI-ders... here's a special weekend update from QCI's Big Peach. It was announced today... Derrick Thomas will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. WOOT!

Dudes... this is huge and WAY overdue. You all know I'm a jihadist Chiefs fan... and #58 is probably one of my all time favorite Chiefs. His jersey was the first Chiefs jersey I ever had... you know... like the nice replica ones... before you could buy NFL jerseys anywhere but only in NFL cities... still have it.

Anyways... Derrick Thomas and the Chiefs of the 1990s were/are still my heroes... especially the defense... still have the bad ass "The Tribe" poster hanging at my folks... Man it was fun to watch them kick ass and take names... it was even more cool to meet these guys personally at football camps as kid... which brings on a few of my favorite stories...

MEETING DERRICK THOMAS - Dudes... my brother and I met DT at the Neil Smith Football Camp when we were kids... he was super nice and very gracious. But, the best was when my Pops came to pick us up from camp. So Dad, arrives at Rockhurst College (where the camp was)... we still had a couple of 7 on 7 games left so he found me and my bro... he wanted to hear all about camp, what we learned... then... my Pops freezes... "Hey... that's Derrick Thomas over there!" My brother and I had to go our final games and Dad just stood there... "I'll be right back," he said... DT was just leaning against the fence taking in some of the games... when my Dad came over and asked, "Mr. Thomas, sorry to bother you, but would you mind signing the back of my Chiefs sweatshirt?" DT smiled and said, "No problem." DT signed it and Dad was as getty as a 12 year old kid who just met one of his heroes.

WORST PHONE CALL EVER - I've told this story a million times... the worst phone call I have ever had to make. So I'm sitting in a deli in East Lansing with fellow Bush Staffers as we were gearing up for the Michigan Primary. ESPN News was on the TV when it broke... Derrick Thomas had passed away... it was like getting kicked in the stomach. After sobbing into my club sandwich... I knew I had to call my Pops... "Dad," "Yea, Grant... everything OK?" "Nah Dad... you may want to pull over on the highway..." "What's wrong?" "Dad, I don't know how to tell you this, but Derrick Thomas has just passed away..." After a 10 second pause... "NO!" "Sorry Dad, I... I'll just give you a ring later." "Alright." click...

I wish I could find the letter to the editor that my Pops wrote to the KC Star and DMR... it went something like, "Derrick Thomas was this family's best friend he never knew he had. While my kids were becoming teenagers, you would think that they would not want anything to do with their parents... but the Kansas City Chiefs were some of the best moments in our house. My kids even put temporary moratoriums on friends... no phone calls or guests during the games... it was our time to spend together watching Derrick Thomas and the Chiefs take care of business on Sundays in the fall." And so on and so on... turns out both papers printed the LTEs. Yea, we're that hardcore...

CHIEFS FANS CAN REJOICE - So today... I got to make a better phone call... "Dad, breaking news... Derrick Thomas is finally going to get inducted into the Hall of Fame!" "HEEEY!!! That's great! He's been due!" So all is looking up in the Chiefs Kingdom... new GM... new coach on the way... and Derrick Thomas is getting an honor that is WAY overdue... seriously, those HOF voters can sleep with a conscience tonight... #58 is headed to Canton!

Now... here's a pretty cool video... I think the Quote of the Day is from Former Coach Marty Schottenheimer, "Derrick, get on that quarterback's ass."

AND FINALLY… let’s blow something up!

10/6/08

MORE BAILOUT – Alright, the Bailout is law… POTUS signed it and let’s hope it does something. Now… over the weekend… I overheard a table of patrons at a local watering hole discussing the issues of the day. I’m not usually that nosey, but one person in the group leading (if you mean lead by yelling) the discussion… brought up a point I haven’t gotten out of my head. He was going on about gas prices and then started rant about the bailout. Then he went all black helicopter and talking about how the end of this country is near. “Where’s the outrage, huh?” He said. “$3 dollar gas? We bailed out a bunch of millionaires? Where’s the f’ing outrage?” He slammed his shot and said, “Shit, we’ve been more outraged for less… remember those guys in Boston? The King taxed tea and they went nuts… for taxing f’ing tea! Where's the outrage?” You know… this guy might be on to something…
COMING SOON TO THE ALLEGANY COUNTY COURTHOUSE – Seriously QCI-ders… If I were Ben Rothelisberger, I’d be taking the offensive line of the Pittsburgh Steelers to court for assault charges. Good Lord. Also, is it me on this? How hard were they hitting last night? Damn…
F’ING CHIEFS – Urgh… well since my favorite team is going to be hell bent on sucking this year… I’m gonna take a look from the pitcher half full crowd… at least we can get a higher draft pick to possible trade for a quarterback…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Happy Birthday to my little sister April! Hope you have an awesome one.
‘PALOOZA - Shout to all who attended the annual shin dig… holy crap… I think we had a good time. Actually, I think the whole town knew we had a good time… Still. Trying. To. Re. Cover… Is this what 31 means?
ROUND 2 – The Presidential Nashville Star? Possibly… look for fireworks tomorrow. Thoughts?
JUDGE WANTS TO DEBATE PALIN – I say bring it. Listening to her rant reminds me of my favorite Chris Farley skit… when he was Stormin’ Norman. The similarities are numerous between the two… I can hear her now… “I WANT SARAH! I WANT SARAH! YOU’VE SEEN HOW MUCH WE CAN SCREW UP FLOOD RELIEF! NOW YOU CAN SEE WHAT I CAN DO IN DEBATE! ATLANTIC CITY! JUDGE/PALIN! THE WAR ON THE SHORE!!!” Funny thing is Lt. Guv Judge… why you were cracking jokes and yuking it up at the annual JJ Dinner, there are still folks in tents in Cedar Rapids… nice work out of you.
THEY DID IT AGAIN – Well… another major news story… another way to raise money for Mike Huckabee… and they used the most ridiculous and dirty salutation again in their fundraising appeal… a sample from the email:
Dear Huck PACkers-
I wanted to write you to convey my disgust with the passing of this 451 page bailout bill. Wall Street has gone trick-or-treating in Washington a little bit early this October. Wall Street is getting the treats and America is getting tricked. The “Axis of Arrogance” has tried to pull the wool over the eyes of the Main Streeters and in doing so hid a sty full of pork in a bill whose constitutionality is questionable at best. Friends, the folks in Washington continue to treat your wallet as their tip jar and this has to stop.

If you are going to continue to spam me with fundraising emails every other day… Stop. Using. Dear. Huck. PACkers. Now. Please…

AND FINALLY… Let’s keep today’s tune of the day simple… as in Simple Minds… crank it!

9/11/08

OK… my bad on the lack of postage here. It seems everything is going 100 miles an hour with the Election coverage and commentary. Welcome to the sprint…

Seriously QCI-ders, things in G$-land are a little crazy. You got the new Metallica Album out tomorrow… (exclusive QCI review tomorrow)… It’s IOWA/iowa state week… it’s Chiefs/Raider week… and more importantly, I’m have been put on official Uncle call… (new Nephew here by Monday)… oh crap! I almost forgot!

It’s 7.2 Thursday!!!!!!

Here’s a good question for you Hawk and ‘Clone fans….

What’s your all time favorite Hawkeye and Cyclone football helmets?

Here’s some of mine…

Chirp away on the comment section… here’ the new Metallica video BTW…

8/13/08

UPDATED....

Gonna take a break from drooling or mentioning Metallica today. Damn it… I just did. Oh well, here’s some crap for today.

OH BECKY... - Home Girl... the camera is on... and Mr. Meyers got a hold of it. Darn it, you were doing so well. Making Katherine Harris look like Einstein isn't very flattering on you... Sigh... Now do I have to give you the Uncle Dave speech? "We love you, but were disappointed in you... but we still love you." Keep this stuff coming. You know why 50% of NASCAR fans show up to races? To watch the crashes. Check out the video below...

LEACH FALL OUT – So… Hawkeye GOP went off on itKrusty chimed in… and conservatives across the state are screaming and foaming at the mouth saying, “I TOLD YOU SO!” Sigh… well, I’m not to cool to it either… but there’s another side of me that says what did you expect? Too bad… that guy could rock the sweater blazer combo like no other. No one else going to be talking about this later… because McCain and Obama will be picking their Veeps… and that’s all we will be talking about… that and the Olympics.

YOUNGSY GETS A STREET – The legendary Dic Youngs got a street named after him over on the Eastside. DMR has all the deets. Been listening to him probably since my ‘rents brought me home from the hospital. Well deserved and congrats Youngster. Miss ya on the radio.

QCI FACEBOOKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE – A little bit of shameless self promotion today QCI-ders. For you stalkers… cough… ER… Facebook members out there, there 3 things you can do to help and promote the World’s Crappiest Blog in our quest for crappy blogging…
1. Join the QCI Facebook Blog Network. We’re currently #3 in the Des Moines network. I say we kick all of their asses! So take a minute to join by clicking here.
2. Join “Questions, Comments & Insults – the Facebook Group.” Join others in a group where you get special alerts on QCI Events… polls we want to smash and other random stuff you would expect. You can join by clicking here.
3. Join Facebook… seriously… all the cool kids are doing it… You not on Facebook = not cool.

OH JOHN… - So this Edwards stuff out there… Clinton people are saying, “We woulda won dude if he wasn’t in and this was out!!!!!” Huh? What? Are you telling me someone cheating on their wife would make a difference in campaign? Oh yea, this is something you Clinton peeps would know a thing or two about.

Speaking of winning, losing and another Edwards… more importantly Herm Edwards… he has a speech for you. Take it away Coach.

8/8/08

Happy Friday to you and yours QCI-ders… You know for the first weekend of the Fair… it’s not so bad of weather out. Headed to KC this weekend for a baby shower and family revelry in honor of my future nephew. So here’s a little bit of stuff to get you through the weekend. If anything happens or if I run into famous Kansas Citians… you be sure to see it over the weekend. On to the randomnous…

BIG WIN – Speaking of Kansas City, my beloved Chiefs picked up a big win last night. I can hear you sarcasm now… “Is he really fired up about a preseason win?” Well when your favorite team has only won 6 games (pre and regular season) since December of 2006, yes you do. Plus, the first drive was solid and Croyle winning me over… It will be an interesting season.

MAC IS BACK – In Iowa! Great to have JSM in Des Moines today. He hit the fair, saw the boar, at a pork chop on a stick, other fried foods, and did the soap box. Raised some dineros and rolled out of town. All reports close to QCI are telling us he was a big hit.

OLYMPICS – Let me be the first to say it… I haven’t even seen the opening ceremonies and I’m already over the Olympics. Seriously? Yeah. A wise man told me once, “You Iowans need to act like you’ve been there before.” Nothing more could be true with the Johnson and Lolo show. Yes, we’re proud of all the athletes from the Tall Corn State whose talents will take them better places… but think about this… do other states go over board for their athletes? I put money on it that they don’t make them out of butter. Get used to hear about this all the time… you know… until Lance Armstrong comes back to the state. Earth to all fellow Iowans… act like you’ve been there before. So Olympics… you and me are so over… you know, until the women’s sand volleyball is over, then that’s it.

SNAKES ON A REPORTER! To get your weekend off to hilarious starts, check out what happens when Curtis Gertz meets a snake out at the fair. Here’s you must see link of the day. Click Here.

Kind of reminds me of one of the most hilarious movies of all time… QCI-ders, let’s welcome Mr. Jackson to the stage…

8/4/08

HMMM… THE NFL – Am I the only one who is giddy the NFL preseason has started? “Yea, G$, get excited for the first 6 snaps where the starters are in… dork.” Whatever… “Ah… I’m more of a college football guy G$, sorry…” Huh? Your loss pal. This is when I start whistling “It’s the Most Wonderful Time, of the Year!” Welcome back NFL!

FIRE UP THE BULLSH*T ALERT – Speaking of the NFL, it was Hall of Fame Weekend in Canton, OH… and who was left out for the 4th year in a row? One of my favorite Chiefs of all time, the late great Derrick Thomas. Can’t wait for the hate mail on this one… Seriously? Andre Tippet and no DT? This is AAA grade, DEFCON level 1 bullshit. Bob Gretz knocks this one out of the park.

THE BOZ – No, not the former Seattle Seahawk/Oklahoma standout turned action hero in one of the best movies of all time… Stone Cold. I’m talking about our ole friend GMLB… Leonard Boswell. In case you missed it. And judging by the lack posting of this video in the blogosphere, you have. Check it out. Dave Price has had it… but no one else is talking about it? Seriously? What do you kids think about this YouTube nugget?

4/23/08

It was going to happen… all signs pointed to it. QCI is now in official mourning mode.

Per John Clayton at ESPN.com:

Late Tuesday night, the Chiefs and the Vikings reached an agreement on a trade package, and at roughly the same time, Allen reached an agreement in principle on a contract with the Vikings. Upon reaching the contract agreement, Allen headed to the airport and left for Minnesota.

I’m trying not to be Debbie Downer and be all sad. Let’s remember the good times. The famous hog tie celebrations, the break out 15.5 sack season… or when introduced on Sunday Night Football (say your name and school) Jared said, “Jared Allen, homeschooled, thanks Mom!”

Although now the Chiefs are poised to “rule the draft” this year, for some reason to me personally, it still doesn’t feel right. I know I will accept it better once we get our 14 some picks this Saturday and when Allen puts on his new jersey. Put I guess you just have to let the pain hurt for a while... sometimes, its alright to let it hurt. Guess it's time to say good bye...

Jared,
You’ll be wearing purple… and wearing #69 on your jersey… but you’ll always be #1 in our hearts. Thank you for making the bad times (4-12) in the Chiefs Kingdom, great times.
When you're moving your stuff from KC to the Twin Cities and need a quick pit stop, there will always be a cold one waiting for you at Flanagan's.

Best of luck and be good to yourself.

Your Pal,
G$

PS to QCI-ders- Yes, this means I will quit crying and posting about #69. Because I know you care.

And now… for the last time on QCI, here’s Jared Allen and the most powerful mullet in the National Football League…

4/22/08

Here’s a little commentary from loyal reader “Ainsley’s Dad about the current situation with Jared Allen. I think he makes a little sense… but I’m still not going to be happy about it. Call me crazy, but I think Jared looks way better in red than he would in purple. Take it away Adam…

Dudes-

Jared Allen is my favorite Chief. I love Jared like I loved Bo Jackson in a house full of Chief fans. Not since #58 have we had a more fan appealing defensive player. I was asked to write this essay on the pros and cons of keeping Jared or trading him.

First the Pros:
1. Jared will fill the seats. No matter how bad the the o-line will hinder us, Jared will be bringing the pain.
2. No matter what happens, Jared's motor will be running. If he doesn't get traded, he will be pissed off and trying to prove himself again. Not since Vermeil told Larry to take off the diapers, have we seen the kind of anger that Jared brings.
3. Currently Jared is the leading the league in sacks with 15.5 and coming off a pro bowl season it would be nice to get another 15+
4. Jared is the one thing keeping us from calling this year a rebuilding year. With LJ on one side and Jared on the other it is hard to say we are in a rebuilding year.

Now for the cons:
Remember: although I am using some of the thoughts of King Carl, I in no way am defending that POS! It is Carl’s fault we haven’t had such a great run the last 10 years.

1. Having a player in the locker room that does not want to be there is bad for all the rookies we will be bringing in.
2. Jared is coming off of his break out year. Since he is healthy he is worth at least a round 1 and round 2 or 3 pick. Why not get a 2 for one special. If Jared is injured this year we are out a lot of money and no other players. If we trade him we have a chance at 2 players.
3. I know Jared is on one full year of staying out of trouble but the Chiefs are offering 8.8 million and a 20-30 signing bonus. That is life changing money. I don't care what the price is for a beer in Westport, I think he can cover any tab with that kind of money.
4. I can only think of a few D-ends that put in 5+ solid years and hit pro bowls for most of them. I am reminded of the Neil Smiths and the Reggie Whites of the world. Jared is not at this level yet. Today D-ends last about 5-7 years, if they get a few pro bowls great. Let’s not give big contract to a guy in his 4th season. If we sign Jared to a 5 year deal all he has to do is show up. Like LJ what is the drive to get up in the morning and play with some pain.

I think most sports fans in the KC area know how to handle rebuilding years. The Royals have been rebuilding for 20+ now and as long as they still have buck night and George Brett t-shirt night the stands will be full.

Most of us would love to say that if we keep Jared our season is going to be saved. Not true, if we keep Jared we will go 8-8 and miss a chance at a couple of good prospects. Let's drop Jared and soot for 4-12. I know I can handle 4-12 if I know it is leading to a 12-4 season in 3-4 years.
